FORTY SIX KNOTS - ARTISTS BOOK
'Forty Six Knots' is a wordless narrative about strength in pulling together. A concertina fold tells the story first in double panel moments but then opens out to reveal the full scene. The flip side shows a fun surprise ending.
A core of linen connects the panels. It's frayed edge reminiscent of the stray cotton reality of a busy sewing space. Read more here.
'Forty Six Knots' was originally created as a submission for the annual Umbrella Prints Trimmings Competition. Umbrella Prints is an Australian textile house specialising in organic printed fabrics. The brief was to make something using one packet of UP remnants.
46 Knots won the 2012 Umbrella Prints Trimmings Competition People's Choice award.
